Samsung preps for the launch of its newest phone, the Note 8

It’s getting to be that time, for Samsung enthusiasts. August usually marks the unveiling of the company’s newest Note model, and this year will be no different. August 23 has been confirmed as the phone’s launch date. After the Note 7 fiasco from last year, it will be interesting to see what Samsung came up with to win back customers.

About a month from now, consumers will get their first glimpse at Samsung’s new flagship phablet. The bar is set incredibly high after the Note 7 crashed and burned last year, costing Samsung billions in the process. A month away from finding out more information about the Note 8, here are the current known specs of the phone:

  • 6.3in 3840×2160 Super AMOLED curved display
  • Improved iris scanner
  • S Pen support
  • Screen embedded fingerprint scanner
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, 6GB RAM
  • Built-in ‘Bixby’ AI assistant
  • USB-C connectivity, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Vertical dual lens rear-facing camera
  • Android 7.0 Nougat operating system
  • 64GB build-in storage, microSD expansion
  • IP68 certification
  • Fast charging, wireless charging support

With the Galaxy S8 release early this year, Samsung has helped ease the negative press its been receiving in 2017, but the Note 8 still has a lot to prove. You can assume that they have tested this phone in every conceivable way to make sure the release goes off without a hitch, but only time will tell for sure.

It’s projected that the Note 8 will be available for purchase some time in September according to Samsung. Looking at the trend of previous Note releases, it’s very plausible.
