The best way to charge your phone

The commonly accepted belief that charging your smartphone in short bursts is bad for the battery may not be true after all, according to a battery company Cadex who own the website Battery University.

Leaving your phone plugged in while it is fully charged is bad for the battery performance in the long run, as the Independent reports. “Li-ion (lithium-ion) does not need to be fully charged as is the case with lead acid, nor is it desirable to do so,” Codex notes. “In fact, it is better not to fully charge because a high voltage stresses the battery.” When your phone reaches 100%, it receives “trickle charges” to keep that level, which maintain a high-stress level to the battery that wear it down over time.

The best strategy is to not charge your phone overnight. Try charging it intermittently throughout the day instead. Besides this, remember to use a wall charger, because it is more efficient. Turning on airplane mode can also speed up the charging process. Furthermore, don’t turn the phone screen on or check it while it is charging.
