Do they make a fortune? How much exactly the regular Airbnb host earns each month

Airbnb has revolutionized the way we travel since its launch in 2008. The company, which now values  billions, has helped homeowners across the globe become mini-hoteliers, allowing them to make extra money while hosting guests overnight in an extra room, or giving them their entire home for a set period of time.

According to Airbnb’s data, the company has helped book more than 160 million guests for its more than three million listings in 190 countries by now.

But how much money are all those owners actually earning? Priceonomics says that hosts on Airbnb are earning more than anyone else in the gig economy – an average of $924 a month.

“Airbnb hosts make nearly three times as much as other workers. Workers at the general task-service platform, TaskRabbit, rank second at $380 per month.”

Still, Airbnb earnings can range extremely, with some hosts making more than $10,000 per month, while others make less than $200. But even with these variations, nearly 50 percent of all Airbnb hosts make more than $500 per month, Fortune reports.

The tips on making the most of an Airbnb listing include taking beautiful pictures to showcase your home, keeping the prices realistic, providing the customers with everything they could need during their stay – mini toiletries, towels, entertainment, even a bottle of local wine.
