Sneak-peek at Queen Victoria cruise ship £34m refurbishment – PHOTOS+VIDEO

Cunard‘s Queen Victoria cruise ship will get a £34 million face-lift and the company released the first images of how the newly refurbished interiors will look like after completion. The luxury ship will be taken out of service in May and it will undergo the refit at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo, Italy.

According to the company, the cruise ship’s interiors needed a fresh new look and many new enhancements to cope with guests’ demands. The Queen Victoria will get new bars and large flat TV screens in all staterooms.

“As part of the Queen Victoria refurbishment, we’ve looked to heighten our customers’ experience in every way, from the extension of the aft lido sun deck to refreshed interiors across the board. Responding to the demands of our guests, we’ve introduced 43 Britannia Club Staterooms, bringing the Queen Victoria in line with the rest of the Cunard fleet,” Simon Palethorpe, Senior Vice President, said. ” At the same time, there are many enhancements – for example, new bar concepts and large flat screen TVs in all staterooms – that meet the needs of today’s luxury traveller. We’re looking forward to inviting the first Cunard guests on board to enjoy the new additions and refreshed features,” Palethorpe added.

Cunard also underlines that the refurbishment will follow the classical elegant style recognisable on similar ships like the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.

One of the amazing new features will be the Winter Garden, flooded with natural light thanks to the floor to ceiling windows which also offer some of the best views across the ship and out to the sea.

The popular Chat Room will be moved and re-imagined bringing in the allure and glamour of a classic cocktail bar from the ship’s heydays.
