Five ways to get rid of sunburn

If you’ve ever fallen victim to sunburn, you know the painful struggle it can bring. Getting rid of it seems even harder.

While prevention is often a key factor in fighting sunburn, certain tips can help you get rid of sunburn after the damage was done, according to Mirror.

1. Get out of the sun

As soon as you start noticing a patch of red, find shade and get into it, as you don’t want to burn the area further. Don’t go sunbathing the next day unless the redness succumbed overnight.

2. Take painkillers

Sunburn is associated with discomfort and inflammation. You can fight these symptoms by taking a painkiller. Make you sure you stick to the recommended dose.

3. Hydrate yourself

A lot of fluid is lost through the skin due to sunburns. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

4. Wear loose clothing

Avoid anything that is tight and sticks to your skin. If anything is rubbing on your sunburn, the pain will worsen and the area will swell. Stick to baggy shirts for a while.
