Writing in the Sky: June 25-July 1, 2017

We can only hope for a great week but with this weekly series of astrological forecasts, you can be armed with the knowledge to actually make that great week happen.

Whew! This week has been an emotional roller coaster with the recent Cancer New Moon but the high tides are just coming in when we add Mercury and Mars to the pool.

This week, I will illustrate the energies of the planetary aspects with personal real-life examples. I hope this will make these astrological forecasts easier to apply into your own lives and give you clues as to what to look out for in your day-to-day living. The most important thing about creating the life that you want is being aware of how we react to external stimuli. By having a heads up of what to look out for, you can be mindful of clues. The Writing in the Sky was created with the intent of being a cheat sheet to those tests of life.

Planetary Aspects:

Mars Conjunct Mercury in Cancer: If this combination was a hot sauce, it would be ghost pepper. This is a spicy time in communication as Mercury in the emotional and watery Cancer sign teams up with the assertive Mars who will find its fiery temper even more emotionally charged. There is a lot of intellectual, emotional and physical energy when these planets are conjunct. Expect more disputes, especially in domestic life since Cancer rules the Home. The communication and emotions this week are impulsive so be sure to reign in on the flood of words that may pour out as it may feel good now, but may soon be regretted in the long run.

In my personal life, I saw this energy manifested in my roommate. A short while ago, our friendship slowed to an end after I told him I felt that he disrespected me in a way that breached boundaries. A short time after, under the influence of these strong planetary energies, he banged on my bedroom door to start another altercation. He let his emotions take control of his character and said things that he will later regret, if he hasn’t already.

What is important to remember is that everyone’s actions are energy. These planetary aspects play a big part of that energy and while we can not control how others treat us, we can control how we respond. As I state each week, there are no “bad” aspects because every aspect gives us an opportunity to vibrate at the higher end of the spectrum. In the situation above, I could have got loud back and made accusations but that would have only escalated the situation. Do not let anyone drag you down into their vibration. It’s an emotional time but the waves will settle soon.

Now that I discussed and illustrated the strong Mars and Mercury connection, I will move into the aspects they form with other planets. Since these two planets are near each other in the sign of Cancer, they will both be forming the same aspects with the planets, Jupiter and Pluto. For the duration of this transit, the two planets will be moving as a unit, bringing an emotionally charged and assertive communicative style to each area.

Mars/Mercury Square Jupiter (Cancer and Libra): Jupiter in Libra adds an expansive element to the desire for balance and justice, Libran qualities. However, the square Jupiter forms with Mars and Mercury just puts the person who thinks they are advocating for balance, ironically become unbalanced by lashing out on others and acting in ways that hurt their cause.

Expect challenges in balance with this aspect but do not take anything personal. And if you say something that you later regret, be easy on yourself. We are also human and having an emotional experience is part of the plan. Only through these experiences can we grow.

Mars/Mercury Oppose Pluto (Cancer and Capricorn): Pluto is a planet of power and in the career-oriented sign of Capricorn, you can expect the energy of this opposition to manifest in the workplace. Mars and Mercury are in a water sign and Pluto rules water signs so there are a lot of emotions with this aspect. Emotions can dramatically control communication and result in a power struggle with a coworker or boss. As a result of these emotions, strong feelings can cloud our judgment.

The lesson from this aspect will be learned when we reflect on the way we try to control forces more powerful than us. Pluto is in the Earth sign Capricorn, so there is a practical element to the aspect. We need to be realistic in recognizing the power that we do have and what we don’t. This does not mean that we need to be passive in order to benefit from the aspect. We can still be ambitious and greatly effective if we act consciously.

A lot of my family and friends have been having these power dynamic situations at work. All of them have either quit or are currently thinking about quitting. Under this aspect, even I have been contemplating quitting one of my jobs because of the imbalance and power struggles I have witnessed. Because of the Pluto energies of this aspect, which adds a touch of shadow work to be done, I have decided to take a moment to reflect on the road I should take. Sometimes, when everything is moving so fast and changing around us, we need to pause to make the corresponding changes within. Only after reflecting should we take action, especially since emotions easily cloud judgment.

Crystal Healing:

Unakite is this week’s healing crystal. Being a jasper, unakite has a grounding energy which will balance the heavy water elements prominent this week. The swirls of green and pink make it a great heart stone as the unakite resonates with the frequency of love and compassion. By balancing emotions, unakite can foster harmonious relationships in love, business, family and friends. The crystal also helps us move past outdated ways of thinking, a quality useful for the Pluto dynamic where we need to recognize how we respond to power struggles. The reflection that occurs with this crystal is why many people choose unakite when they need a balance of emotions and spirituality.

Unakite is useful for a handful of other properties and I will be using this stone to help ground the Mars energy this week and reflecting. If you have strong air elements or have strong Mercury in your birth chart, you may want to use blue stones as well as unakite to help clear the throat chakra and smooth communication even more. Blue kyanite and blue lace agate will work well here.
