God goes viral thanks to the 1-hour midnight Hallelujah Challenge

46010 views

Is God present on social media? You won’t believe this story about praise worship and how a simple Instagram account can bring so many people together in ways Jesus would applaud.

See what happens when a gospel artist gets an Instagram account? People flock to churches — at least on social media via live sessions. His name’s Nathaniel Bassey, and he recently went viral in a big way by starting what he called the “Hallelujah Challenge” on his Instagram.

The Hallelujah Challenge Was Supposed to Be a 1-Hour Praise and Worship Live Session Lasting 30 Days

And the praise was only supposed to occur each day — at midnight. Interesting, right? Bassey didn’t think much of it except to say that he was inspired by the biblical account of Paul and Silas achieving freedom from prison after engaging in praise and worship. His challenge was supposed to be the same victory. And for all intents and purposes…. He succeeded hugely.

His Hallelujah challenge went viral over that long period of time, achieving a staggering 50,000 live worshippers for that period. We’re talking about all over the world, possibly. People joined in on his Instagram account and put their faith on the proverbial digital table for a cyberspace Last Supper of monumental proportions. And it made Bassey say that “these things are living proofs from a loving God…. doing things bigger than these personal breakthroughs….” and that “these are only signs of things being wrought in the earth.”

Truly humbling. Powerful. And undeniable. You have to wonder if God intended for them to be on the Internet! After all…. We’re a big population of people now. A lot of people to reach.

Bassey’s Hashtag #HallelujahChallenge Is Currently Trending

And it’s trending massively. 7,826 tweets. Even celebrities have chimed in on the hashtag, such as Funke Akindele-Bello, Omoni Oboli, Don Jazzy, Kcee, and Adesua Etomi. Who knows just how far this will go even beyond his original Hallelujah Challenge. I certainly feel the power!
