Yolanda Saldivar originally made headlines in Spring of 1995 after she shot, and murdered Queen of Tejano Selena Quintanilla.
USA– a recent viral article making the rounds stated that Yolanda Saldivar, 56, had passed away.
The article was released in March 2017, and has been shared numerous times. The original headline stated, “Yolanda Saldivar Dead at 54: Selena Fans Rejoice”.

“Yolanda Saldivar was found dead in her cell by deputies during a routine walk throuugh of the Mountain View unit in Gatesville, Texas. Attempts to resuscitate Saldivar proved futile as she appeared to have been dead for several hours before discovery.” Stated the Civic Tribune.
With the strong following behind the legendary singer, and the strong opposition for Saldivar, it is to be expected that a story like this one would turn viral.
However, the entire story, released by civictribune.com, is completely false, and another example of fake news.
According to Jason Clark from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Saldivar is still alive and currently being held at the Incarcerated Mountain View Unit Located in Gatesville, Texas.
For fans of the famed singer the news of her still being alive may be disappointing.
Saldivar is set to be eligible for parole on March 30, 2025.
