Actor Jared Martin, who starred as cowboy Dusty Farlow in “Dallas”, dies aged 75

American actor Jared Martin, who starred as cowboy Dusty Farlow in famous TV show “Dallas”, has died aged 75.

According to his son, Martin has died at his home in Philadelphia after battling pancreatic cancer.

Martin was a roommate of director Brian de Palma while at Columbia University in New York and starred in the director’s first and third featured films,  “Murder a la Mod” (1968) and “The Wedding Party” (1969).

In ” Dallas”, Martin starred as a rodeo cowboy who seduced Sue Ellen Ewing, J.R.’s wife, but who died in a plane crash. The producers had to bring his character back on the screen at the public’s demand, though.

Martin’s career includes parts in two science-fiction TV shows, NBC’s 1977 “The Fantastic Journey” and a 1988-1990 adaptation of “War of the Worlds”. Martin also starred in movies such as “Westworld” (1973), “The Second Coming of Suzanne” (1974) and Pia Zadora’s “The Lonely Lady” (1983). In television, he acted in “The Partridge Family”, “Dan August”, “Night Gallery”, “The Rookies”, “The Waltons”, “How the West Was Won”, “The Incredible Hulk”, “Scarecrow and Mrs. King”, “The Love Boat”, “Hunter” and “L.A. Law”.

After stepping back from the acting world, Martin became a creative director at Big Picture Alliance, a nonprofit association that introduces children to the world of cinema, and he also worked as a painter and photographer.
