During his performance this past Saturday at the Governor’s Ball, Donald Glover announced to his fans that after the release of his third album he will be retiring his alter-ego “Childish Gambino”.

The distinguished singer didn’t give word when his third album would be released but simply stated to the crowd: “I’ll see you for the last Gambino album,” at the end of his performance.

He went on to elaborate his reasons for leaving his music career during an interview with Huffington Post stating: “There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?’” he said. “You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”

Glover, who’s most recent album “Awaken, My Love” debuted at No.1 on the Billboard’s R&B charts, is set to appear in Spiderman: Homecoming, voice Simba in the remake of the Disney classic, “The Lion King”, and portray a young Lando Calrissian in Hans Solo: A Stars Wars Story.
