Born on July 19, 1976, Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most unique entertainers working today. He received a Golden Globe nomination and an Oscar nomination for his role as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game. He has also played a variety of characters ranging from the eponymous Sherlock to Doctor Strange to William Shakespeare’s Hamlet in 2015. Cumberbatch is definitely a leading man in many different ways.

Cumberbatch has also made contributions to literature and entertainment. He has played iconic characters like lending his voice to Smaug in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in 2014. He even provided his voice to a poetry reading of John Keats’s “Ode to a Nightingale.” His distinct voice is easily recognizable, and his talent allowed him to bring poetry and characters to life with his passion for the arts.


Benedict Cumberbatch has also been keeping himself busy with a variety of upcoming projects. He is set to provide the voice of Shere Khan in the 2018 version of The Jungle Book after the release of the wildly successful 2016 version. He will also provide the voice of the Grinch in a new version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which is also set for release in 2018. With such a diverse range of film roles, maybe Benedict Cumberbatch will finally receive an Oscar in the near future.
