Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård plays the role of the infamous clown in the new adaption. Skargård recently gave an interview comparing Pennywise to Marvel’s famous Joker, which was portrayed by many actors, including the late Heath Ledger. “The Joker is sort of this social anarchist, crazy person, and I don’t think Pennywise is the same in that way. He’s not even human, he’s just pure evil.” His comparison worked, as he delivered a very horrifying performance, giving the movie an “R” rating in the United States.

“It” came at a good time for Hollywood as the film industry suffered it’s worst summer at the box office. The fall season is hoping to save the industry with more films. “It” has so far offered a good start. Upcoming films are said to be a stronghold for the industry and has hopes in the box office of ending the year on a good note.

Although “It” is already Stephen King’s biggest horror movie of all time, it’s sure to leave a memorable mark not only in the Hollywood world, but as well as horror film lovers. According to Forbes, the current record holder for an “R” rated film globally was 2012’s Prometheus, as it grossed $405 million. If Pennywise can keep giving scares and screams to millions worldwide, it will be sure to not be far behind.
