Tom Cruise has been hurt on set of new movie

Is it time to let the stuntmen do the work?

Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, renowned for doing his own stunts in his 3 decade-plus long career, has been injured on the set of the latest movie in the Mission Impossible series. The 55-year-old actor was filming scenes in London this past weekend which required him to leap between buildings (whilst attached to a safety harness). The subsequent jump left the ‘Jerry Maguire’ star limping as he struggled to find his balance upon climbing to safety.

Examples of Cruise’s past escapades in stunt work include filming in zero-gravity for an aeroplane scene in the recent ‘The Mummy’ reboot, whilst also clinging onto the side of a real plane as it took off for scenes in ‘Rogue Nation’ (the most recently released Mission Impossible film). Later scenes in the film showed Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt infiltrating an underwater security vault, which necessitated the actor to be underwater for 6 minutes at a time. Quoted at the time, he said, “The kind of training I had to do for that was pretty intense. I’ve done a lot of underwater scenes but I’ve never done one [like this] that will get the audience to lean forward and have a visceral reaction.”
