Monarch Airlines announced early this morning that they have ceased trading and are officially in administration. This includes Monarch Holidays Ltd., First Aviation Ltd., Avro Ltd. and Somewhere2stay Ltd.

Monarch took to Facebook to inform all customers due to fly out of the UK that they should not head to the airports as all outgoing flights have been suspended from today, Monday 2nd October. The company also advised that their Facebook page will no longer be monitored. Anyone needing further information was directed to their new website, www.monarch.caa.co.uk

Describing the situation as unprecedented, Monarch assured passengers that the UK government has asked the CAA to coordinate flights for up to 110,000 Monarch customers who are currently overseas and due to return by October 15th. These flights will be at no extra cost to the consumer and will be available a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

According to Monarch’s new website, priority will be given to vulnerable passengers, including unaccompanied minors. The company also assured passengers that family groups will be booked on the same return flight.

Anyone affected by the situation can visit their new website or call Monarch’s helpline at 0300 303 2800 (UK) +44 1753 330 330 (Overseas).
